So, I started my journey into voice acting this year! Yahoo!
It's something I've always had a foot in (if you know me, you know I've always made funny voices and what-not), but it was a Star Fox fan game searching for amateur voice actors that drive me into it and take a leap into a new hobby (FINALLY)! So, I did my best trying to voice a character that was in my higher vocal range, Slippy Toad. While I didn't get the part in the end, my vocal audition received the highest likes from other VA actors. I was hooked. I didn't know I had this "talent" and drive for being a VA (voice actor) but knowing I had a skill that people seemed to think I did too, it just drives you! I then began to practice... A LOT. Every week I would give auditions for other projects, but only ones I was really passionate about and that were in my vocal range. I only have so much time in a week so if I need to do hours of voicing for free, I had to make sure I enjoyed it! After doing a few small one-off projects, I eventually got picked up by a large Youtube channel doing fan content for one of my favourite adult cartoons: Helluva Boss! I was then also upgraded to a video editor for them as well, and actually began to get paid for my skills! I even continue to get chosen for other new projects and have discovered more about both my voice, the skill and how we humans communicate. Most importantly, I've met so many amazing people along the way so far. Young and old, English and other, Men, women and other, all so diverse but all connected to our love of bringing a story to the masses. So far, I've voiced Moxxie, Crimson and Collin (and kid Stolas and Blitzo) from Helluva Boss, King from The Owl House, a few background Sonic the Hedgehog baddies, and many, many more to come! So, this was a quick mind-vomit of my VA journey so far... I hope this helped or illuminated SOMETHING in your day. All the best! Henry - amateur VA

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these blog entries, and this is my first one here on the new site so… Congrats to me? Heh heh!
It’s been an amazing year for my flight training. I finished my Night rating, got my multi-engine rating, and even finished most of my flight and instrument hours! Overall, not a bad year, eh? I’ve had my share of issues too. Besides the horrible weather during the winter months (expected here in the Snowbelt of Ontario), I am also at the mercy of Transport Canada and their horrible ability to get paperwork done post-COVID. I did my Class 1 aviation medical back in August of 2022 with a perfect bill of health, and here in February 2023, I still have not received my medical, therefore I cannot take my flight test, nor do my Multi-IFR rating. Super frustrating as it seems that the issue is even worse for when I DO get me licence, they will possibly take another half year to get me the updated documents so I can get a flight job. You can read the article here on Canadian Aviator yourself, but it felt good to know I am not alone with my fight against Transport Canada, but alas, SUPER frustrating when I have been working at this for years and the only thing stopping me is government bureaucracy. I have written my MP, the transport minister and even the PM about this. None have replied so far at the time of writing this, but of course, Transport Canada has ignored my multiple contact attempts over this past half-year, so my hope of something actually getting done is not too high. Here’s hoping I can get everything done for the spring so I can get a job easier. They say the pilot shortage is worse than ever, I hope this is true for my sake and getting a starting job! Happy landings, and here’s hoping I get back in the air soon! to edit. Hey, all! Welcome to my new site. I just moved my domain and Weebly site to my primary accounts, hence the new site, so... Welcome!
Nothing too new, just a new portfolio and new social and business links under the links tab. Enjoy! Henry |
